Helmut Schleweis was unanimously elected as the new Chairman of the Board of the German Sparkassenstiftung (DSIK) on April 17, 2024.
Schleweis was President of the German Savings Banks Association (DSGV) in Berlin until December 2023 and can now contribute all the expertise from his time in office to his voluntary work for DSIK. He was also President of the European Savings Banks and Retail Banks Association (ESBG) in Brussels until December 2021.
Helmut Schleweis will officially succeed the long-standing Chairman of the Management Board, Heinrich Haasis, on July 1, 2024. Heinrich Haasis chaired DSIK's Management Board for a total of 12 years, during which time he helped to firmly establish DSIK within the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. Niclaus Bergmann, Managing Director of DSIK, emphasized: "Thanks to Heinrich Haasis' outstanding commitment and persuasiveness towards the German savings banks as well as external funding institutions, we have tripled our annual project volume to EUR 30 million over the past 12 years. This is a great achievement for the people in the world's poorest countries, for whom our projects in more than 50 countries offer prospects for a better life."
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of German Sparkassenstiftung is since January 2024 Dr. Ulrich Reuter, President of the German Savings Banks Association (DSGV).
